Percival is a knight errant, a noble from the dark forests of northern drouwe. He constantly hunts a creature known as the knave of pellinore which haunts his family, but as for now he just wanders the land, looking for quests, and any way he can improve himself in the meantime before he must face the music and the responsibility of facing the beast

Percival is generally very amiable and friendly, although particularly attached to his pride if it is wounded, especially when it comes to his family. Despite his station, he is willing to speak to anyone of any station, although as he has spent most of his time with the upper crust, so he can be a little condescending to those who are beneath his social station, even if he is usually well-intentioned. He also has a slight tendency towards distraction, suspicion, and paranoia, as he is always looking over his shoulder thanks to his family curse.

Percival is a knight errant, so of course, he is always looking for grand quests or those in some sort of need or peril

As a foreigner, he can often get himself into slightly odd fish out of water situations so do with that as you will http://files.b1.jcink.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif

Eventually, it would be awesome to get some stuff in relation to the knave, however, don't worry about that yet http://files.b1.jcink.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif As for so far, I prefer to leave him in suspense. XD At most, perhaps he might glimpse it eventually? XD

But yeah, basically I'm up for doing anything with Percival at the moment, whatever rears its head http://files.b1.jcink.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif

<div class="herhowlin">
<p>
The Greenmantle family was once a powerful one , ruling over their small forest holding with a prideful air, uncaring about their people. They held grand feasts and hunts night after night, while the people starved. It is said that one particularly cold, stormy night, a ragged traveler came to the Greenmantle keep, asking to come inside for warmth and sustenance. However, the head of the family, Pellinore Greenmantle was prideful, refusing to let a simple beggar into his grand halls, and had his guards throw the man into the cold night. Later that evening, Pellinore's kindly wife, Gerelda, invited the poor man in, seeing him standing by the door, shivering in the driving rain. Pellinore saw this man, during a feast, and, assuming he has broken in to steal from him, attempted to attack the man, and strike him down. As he was struck, the form old man shimmered, revealing a tall, dark haired elfin-seeming man. All present reeled back, as all present knew that this man, was, in fact, a powerful Fae. Because of this slight, and because of the breach of honor pellinore had incurred by attacking an invited guest, The Fae cursed the greenmantle family, causing them and their descendants to be haunted by a great beast known as of the Knave of Pellinore. This beast would haunt the Greenmantle family, hunting them down until none are left. It would make sure that for ever more, the family lived in fear.
<p>
This fae beast is a mockery of the family's knightly history, a monstrosity the form of a mounted knight, but on closer inspection, it is obvious this thing is not human. It is huge, with black fur growing in patches on its red-raw flesh, the "horse" and "rider" fused at the hip. The rider, a humanoid shape with the antlers of a stag, with the same patch-furred flesh. Its face is smooth and featureless, with only a pair of blind white eyes, the gaze of which is said to drive fear into the hearts of any man who looks into them. The creature has a single great arm, with a huge sword-like blade of black iron the size of a claymore fused to it as if it was being wielded. The horse is similarly grotesque, with the same stag-like antlers and a great bleeding maw full of long, dagger like teeth, lacking all other facial features. Its tail, mane and hooves are made of black iron blades, much like the sword.
<p>
That day Pellinore drove his sword into the ground and went out to fight the creature. He was never seen again. For generations, his descendants have hunted the creature, but throughout the generations, not one has been successful…

<p>
Percival was born in the rotting husk of the Greenmantle family. Since Pellinore, the family had fallen far. Thanks to their curse, other nobles of the kingdoms had distanced themselves from the family, their past sins being plastered upon them like a great black tattoo. Because of this, the family, although still very much in control of their land, is much poorer than the other noble houses. They keep up appearances, holding great feasts and holding grand tournaments, but underneath the surface the family is struggling, bereft of the powerful connections that keep other noble houses alive, and their main revenue stream, the great trees that surround their kingdom being a limited trade good, especially with the strange beasts that roam the forest at night.
<p>
Despite this, Percival was given the most the family could afford. He was taught by the best tutors in politics, history, and the business of running a barony, he had the best spearmen to teach him the ways of combat, and he had the most experienced rangers to teach him tracking, survival and woodcraft. His father, Tiberius Greenmantle spent little time at home, spending most of the time out questing and hunting for the knave, but despite this, when he was at home he doted on his children telling stories of his various adventures, greatly impacting the young Percival, who came to greatly admire his father. His mother, Anne Greenmantle, was the de facto head of the family, personally keeping control of family business, and teaching Percival, as the firstborn, in how to run the family enterprises
<p>
Percival would be described by most of his tutors as "a good student, if a little distracted" It seemed to everyone who knew him that he always had his eyes outside of the family keep. Whenever he had free time, he spent it under heavy guard, wandering the forests around his home, just watching nature, and ever wandering further and further away from his home.
<p>
For years, the schedule remained the same. Training, learning, walks and feasts. Over the years, siblings arrived, first his sister, Morgana, then two brothers in quick succession, martin and john. Percival continued to wander the woods, now old enough to dismiss his guards, he wandered alone. One particularly dark night, he caught a glimpse of the knave. It seemed to be standing on a small rise, its sword dripping with gore, and for a moment, it seemed to stare right at Percival, before it vanished with a dark chuckle. Percival rushed back to his family hold, terrified as to what he would find. And what he found, was his long-absent father.
<p>
He had come home on a stretcher, having been brought in while Percival was out. He had been felled by the Knave. He could no longer walk, one of his legs having been mangled by a heavy slash by the beast's blade, His face was similarly disfigured and his mind was no longer quite as it was. He no longer spoke in anything but rambling nonsense, and the man they knew seemed absent. This struck Percival particularly hard. He had always idolised his father, and seeing him in this state was a great blow to the young man. One night, he slipped out, donned his father's old armour, spear, and shield, and set out into the world, determined that he would be ready for when the Knave came for him. He walked out into the world, leaving only a note.
<p>
And so Percival took up the life of a knight errant. Over the last few years, he has been wandering the world, preparing for his great battle, always watching for the Knave.

Percival is a man of honor, a student of chivalry through and through, committed to helping those in need, doing whatever he can to help the common people and anyone else who needs his services. More often than not, he can be found wandering the countryside, his armor clattering, looking for people in need. In conversation, he is modest about his own achievements, but he, like his ancestors, suffers from a prideful nature, never refusing a challenge, never taking an insult lightly, and often getting himself in deeper trouble thanks to that
<p>
Because of his noble bearing, he sees it as his duty to care for and protect the people underneath him, either by lending a hand with his spear and shield, or simply by providing what he can to the poor and unfortunate, even if it means he himself goes hungry.
<p>
Despite these things, he is always looking over his shoulder, constantly searching for the beast that curses his family, terrified that one day it will appear, and he will not be strong enough to defeat it. In a similar vein, he is very much aware that he is the public face of his noble line, and he must keep up appearances to hide the fact that his family is struggling, and slowly falling into ruin.

Percival is a man of average height, and a broad yet muscular build. This however is generally hidden underneath layers of plate Armour, obviously age-old but well kept, with many battle scars and repairs, and obvious signs of being refitted for different wearers. On the breastplate is embossed a family crest, what appears to be an oak tree, growing through a silver coronet. On top of his dark brown hair he wears a sallet helmet, obscuring most but a pair of deep brown eyes and a neatly kept short beard.
<p>
Across his back, is a great dark green cloak, emblazoned with the same symbol as on his breastplate.
<p>
Underneath the cloak, he wears a long kite shield, similarly decorated and in a similar condition to the armor, with a spear strapped to it, the tip well kept and well sharpened, but obviously as old as the rest of the equipment.
