In a land much like ours...

Banwalt, one of the four marshes of Harlant, 1622. While the newest heir to the Arzswin family is trying to gain influence over the city, the once renowned city guard is struggling to keep theirs as the need for grand adventure steadily declines. Even in a world in which magic is commonplace, people are afraid of change.

Just less than five minutes by foot from the baker’s guild by the large fountain on the market place the wooden stage built just for the occasion shot up high and demanded the attention of the crowd. On it, performers of various skill were playing a continuous piece, from eight in the morning until eight at night. Not too far from the main stage, there was a little pedestal set up to allow the old dove Berthold the Whitewinged to rest comfortable and at eye-level as he told his stories of the forest.

A puppet show on the opposite side enthralled the children. Where there was lewd laughter from the main stage, here there was the light ringing of their voices as they yelled back and forth with the colorful characters brought to life through wooden figures and strings.

The puppeteers masterfully portrayed a rendition of the founder’s legend, while the play on the main stage was a tragicomedy featuring a changeling child and a worrisome mother, and the story of Berthold the Whitewinged revolved around a dark, mysterious tower further than the heart of the forest, covered by ivy so thick not even sound could escape it.

The baker’s guild, a short, stout, red bricked building just outside the first city wall, was shining bright and freshly polished, decked out in linen banners and colorful spring flowers for the occasion. The doors wide open, two young bakers stood on each side to encourage bypassers and determined festival goers alike to enter and try the various delicacies and innovations lined out on table after table inside.

Outside offers enough distractions, however: A disorganized and colorful array of stalls and blankets misused as displays, filled to the brim with baked goods, flour and grain, herbs and anything and everything in between. Old miller’s wives and young inventors were selling their goods side by side, and even members of the fae and a lone fable sheep have put up their stalls, trying to entice and enthrall the citizens of Banwalt.

This Weekend

The biannual Spring festival of the Banwalt Baker’s Guild invites young and old to a weekend of fun and enjoyment in the Banwalt belt’s! No cost has been spared, and by the parliament’s grace and Bastienne’s goodwill, we welcome you all to welcome the new life of the land.

As always, the heart of the festival will be situated right outside of the guild’s union, where you will be able to sample our baker’s newest creations, using foreign spices and methods old and new. Merchants and traders from all over the country, as well as envoys from the forest, will present their wares and enthrall you with their innovative creations!

Entertainment and fun wait close by – the Mismagius Theater Troupe returns for the third time, and brings with it fire eaters, rope walkers and an exciting new adventure thought up by their very own playwright! The famed Berthold the Whitewinged will also reprise his role as storyteller, and bring the legends of the forest to life.

To conclude our two-day festival, our very own town witch Marceline has gracefully agreed to host a grand magic show, which will be like nothing you have ever seen – grand feats of magic performed by the master herself, free for all to view!

Do not miss what is to be sure a grand festival!

Board challenge #1: Character Development

May 6th - June 6th

Our first Board challenge starts today!

Board challenges are a way to introduce board features to members , new and old,
and encourage their use among our players.

This months challenge is the Character Development Board challenge! To complete this challenge, you will simply need to create a character development board (= one thread per character) for one of your characters in the appropriate subforum here [Link]. Then, populate it with at least one piece (drabble, art, memory, playlist, moodboard, map) of supplementary development for your character! This can be absolutely anything, as long as it relates to this board and your character in some way.

Unlike the prompt challenge, the winner of Board challenges will be decided by vote. The winner will then have a link to their board displayed in the sites header until the next challenge concludes.
